Breakfast is Overrated
7am – Wake up, groggy and tired…need to “fuel up” for the day8am – Go hit the coffee shop, grab some bagels…and of course need that cream cheese
10am – Ugh…that mid morning crash. I need another bagel or muffin
Noon – Subway has a deal on foot long subs…sounds good. Chip and a drink? Sure why not
3pm – Ugh…ate way too much at lunch, can barely stay awake…time for more coffee
6pm – Too tired to think about cooking, going to grab something at a drive thru for dinner
8pm – TV on, what’s left in the house to snack on…maybe I’ll start that new diet and workout plan tommorow
The Never Ending Cycle
That was pretty much how I ate for many years once I graduated from college and entered the “real world”. Does it also sound similar to your lifestyle?I gained weight, felt tired often, drank 4-5 cups of coffee a day, had my joints hurt more….and all that before I was even 30 years old!
However I was able to break free from that destructive cycle, lose weight and feel a heck of alot better too…without needing some extreme diet or workout plan.
It all started with breakfast…
The Most Important Meal?
I never really wanted to eat breakfast, but I usually did it anyways. This all changed once I decided to just eat “how I felt” (and enjoyed).I’ve heard all the reasons for eating a big breakfast, I’ve done my own research, and in the end I think it is not that “important” as it is made out to be. Simply put…here’s why:
- The idea you need to “fuel” up for the day does not take into account your ability to burn stored fat for energy (as wouldn’t you rather do that?).
- People saying that skipping breakfast leads to a crashing metabolism, are false in their statement (as you will see why below).
- The most important meal of the day…is a tie. Calories matter in the overall daily picture. If you eat less in a whole day with or without breakfast, then there is no magic to weight loss other than lower daily calories.
